Myrrh Mar - My most beloved femininja.
Named after the sometimes mysterious heart murmur. Heart imagery abounds. The metal rings on her shoulders and hips are approximately where EKG leads are placed (including the grounding wire over the right leg). The links around her neck would fall where the other EKG leads go over the chest. Her arm tattoo is an arrhythmia pattern which can occur in hearts with severe valvular defects (often with some type of murmur).
The lower circle behind her represents Da Vinci's scientific sketch of man, while the upper right is the Crucifixion pose, which interestingly, also happens to be the diagram used for demonstrating proper EKG placement in many cardiology textbooks.
Myrrh's arms over the background form the symbol of balance, yin and yang. The watercolor scenery is a direct ripoff of two 15th-17th century (Choson Dynasty) Korean paintings.
I used ink, pen, and brush with a bit of white acrylic for highlights and to soften the lines in her flesh.

I had a hard time deciding whether Myrrh would wear her shades in this one.
There's probably a reason most artists don't explain their work, but since I had to explain most of this to my bride, I figured I would do the same for everyone else.
Plus I needed to stall for the image to download.
