Sara Astruc - Sara is someone I've known online for almost as long as I've been online it seems.
She's always had a fascinating mix of humor, romance, and mystery in her writing and journal.

But more importantly, she's been very kind to me in the way of unexpected messages of support. Even while I was on hiatus.

She sent me such perfect pictures of herself when I asked to draw her. And they were all LARGE, like I requested. I had the hardest time coming up with one portrait to represent her, since no single portrait can really do that. So I drew a bunch of them (even the one with her in the silly hat :-).

The playing card motif seemed natural for her multi-dimensionality. The Queen of Hearts is obvious to anyone familiar with her journal (or with eyes). The Queen of Diamonds represents both her social circles and the way her dark eyes shone in her pics. The Ace of Spades is the card of intrigue and mystery. The heart on her shirt is representative of past loves and the heart surgery she endured. The Joker is just the way she is sometimes as well, as evidenced by her silly hat picture and the fact that it was named potbelly.jpg.

Her journal is sadly discontinued at this time.

I had a lot of fun drawing ... and chasing ... her hair in these portraits.

I couldn't help but put a tiny bit of Asian design in the shirt above on the sleeve.

Incidentally, this drawing was slightly larger than my scanner screen and hence was cropped a bit.
