Qu Pung Chur : Sounds like "acupuncture." One of five drawings I did for a talk on alternative medicine at work.
The drawing is pretty much self-explanatory, I think. Even her hair is made of needles.
I like the contours in her face and around her eyes. While most Western eyes are set deeper into the face, some Asian eyes are often flush with the profile or even prominently forward from it.
She's based on a Korean pop singer (Eun Jin) in the K-girl band Baby V.O.X.
Most of my more realistic looking pics are based on real people or models, also called "references." A lot of comic book artists vehemently and proudly deny using references or real photos in their drawings. That's fine ... if you want your art to look like comic book work or more surreal than real.
I learn more by drawing from real life and then adding my own touches. That's how the classical artists worked, why artists use models, and why such life drawings are often called "studies."
