THE KLUB ZIELLA
The Klub Ziella isn't a person, it's a place. A dangerous place named after the enteric bacterium Klebsiella, frequented by the Bacta (bacteria) people - an underground race of humanoids with microbial characteristics. The Bacta tend to live for the moment, delightfully feeding off of the waste of society - bodily secretions, urine, excrement, carrion, and spoiled foodstuffs. Rumors say they have secretly existed in symbiosis with humans since the dawn of man (occasionally noted in fables as demons, goblins, or tokkebi). Others say they are the result of decades of unethical and failed (or successful?) cloning experiments performed in what was previously North Corea prior to the Unification of Corea.
The unwritten Code of the Bacta peacefully states that "the host must not be harmed." In fact, the Bacta are a very helpful part of society. Recently, a fringe group of opportunists called The Resistance has formed with the goal of a new world order with themselves at the top of the food chain. They have become increasingly virulent and resistant to antibio-weaponry developed by The Pharm(acy).
Chronic alcoholics, like drunken boxer Ethan Oh (girl in front), are more susceptible to infection, and are prone to opportunistic attacks (if they stumble into the wrong bar).
MEDEA SIN DOSSIERS
Strep Dukakis (streptococcus)
Description: Bacta (bacteria). Recognized by scarlet rashes and bulbous cervical chain.
Identities/Aliases: Strep Throat, Farin Gitis, Flesh Eater
Affiliations: Newer member of The Resistance.
Strengths: Versatility. Can target any organ with infectious chains of cocci (beads).
Weakness: Vulnerability to the late Penny Scyllan's coated arrows. (Note: Penny Scyllan was the first and greatest of the anti-bacta fighers. She was eventually ambushed and destroyed by a mob of Resistance agents who had evolved defenses against her attacks. Her armaments are held in a vault at The Pharm.)
Idiosyncracies: Walks with a limp after getting shot by Penny Scyllan in the buttock.
Sue Demonas (pseudomonas)
Description: Bacta (bacteria). Blue-green skin. (Previous drawing here.)
Identities/Aliases: Mean_Green (screen name used while griefing online gamers), Cho Rohk, Jade
Affiliations: High ranking member in The Resistance.
Strengths: Incredibly resistant to most types of damage or antibio-weapons. Pseudopods. Secretes toxic slime coat from skin enabling her to stick to surfaces and digests internal host tissues.
Weakness: Her toxin is completely ineffective versus simple intact skin. Requires a wound or invasive force (tubes, catheters, respirators, or burns) to get to and devastate internal tissue.
Idiosyncracies: Emanates a fruity perfume. Likes to hang around hospitals or burn units to feed. Prefers moist environments. Often bound in plastic tubing to collect and store the slime her body secretes.
Nocardia (Nocardia)
Description: Bacta. But often confused as a Fun Guy (fungi).
Identities/Aliases: St. Valentine, Sgt. Pepper, Heartless, notafunguy@medeasin.com
Affiliations: Frequently associated with Resistance members
Strengths: Gaping jaws where heart should be. Victims found with lungs eaten away. Not much else is known.
Weakness: Vulnerable to sulphur based weapons.
Idiosyncracies: Favors dirt while inactive.
Artist's Notes:
About the only Corean things in the drawing (other than Ethan Oh) are the alcoholic drinks, but that's probably enough. There's OB beer, soju, Hite, and Cass - all common drinks among Coreans. In sticking with the fecal bacteria theme, I altered Hite and Cass to "Shite" and "ass." Pepsi is now Sepsi (short for "sepsis" which means blood infection).
Majoring in microbiology gave me an appreciation of the various attack and defense mechanisms in the microbial world as well as their symbiosis with all other organisms. The Bacta will be a fun group to expand upon. The whole hypersexual fetish theme seemed natural when you consider that bacteria thrive on every fluid or waste that can come out of your body. All those weird sex fetishes actually make sense in this group. For them, sex isn't for pleasure, it's for lunch. That's hot.
The whole clubbing scene was always kind of alien to me anyways.
