![]() THE TOKKAEBI GANG
This was Sun Su's second Halloween and he was ready for it. He went out with his cousins (costumes above: angel, Sportacus, cat, and hulking mad green Corean).
Ooseung
was being fussy and didn't want to get into her tiger costume, but when
she felt she was being left out of the costume pictures, she became
quite despondent.
I
dressed as my usual - a physician with a couple days off who isn't
concerned with brushing his own hair much less getting dressed up for
crappy candy when he can just buy himself the good candy. Cut out
the middle man, I say. Bah, hobgoblin.
Overheard while getting ready for work: SUN SU: “Where’s appah going?” AMY: “Appah has to go to work.” SUN SU: “To MAKE CANDY!?” AMY: “No, appah goes to work to make money, then he can buy us candy.” SUN SU: “That’s what I said, ummah.” Sun Su was just cutting out the middle man too.
My mom came over for a couple days, which Sun Su and Ooseung always appreciate. Last week, someone in the hospital said, "If spanking grandmas was legal, then we'd have less spoiled grandchildren." Funny but true. Spoiling
grandkids seems to be one of the few perks of growing old, as far as I
can tell. Getting that unrestrained and unconditional love from
pure little angels. Being able to start over. Always being
the "good cop." It makes me happy that my little ones adore my
mom so much. Because for whatever reason, I sure can't show her
that kind of love. Love the little messengers.
Ooseung
is happy here because she was able to go trick or treating and get
candy after all. She went as an angel in a little girl's
heart.
