Christophe made
this Corean architecture video

and used a few pics of my family
in it. Kind of neat, and freaky in
a way. (You have to wait about 20
seconds in to see the first pic of us.)

Welcome to the Million Ajumma March!

8-15-45

Last Sunday (the day after the wedding/party above) was Corean Independence Day. The day that the Japanese Occupation of Corea ended in 59 years ago.

The churches in Ann Arbor had a huge picnic to celebrate. It was pretty neat. I couldn't understand the big speeches that were made and neither did Kevin because he was trying to take a nap 200 yards away.

"I don't need to listen," Kevin told a nagging aunt, "I've got so much Corean pride that it's overwhelming. I'm exhausted. I need to take a nap now."

No rest for the wicked, I guess. At least until the sun comes up and the speeches start.

Amy's wrapped up in the blanket. Kevin is in back getting beat up by two furious hapa girls. Sun Su is looking for people to chase.

Anyways it was a pretty fun day. They held relay races for the girls and the older adults. I can't believe how fast some of those old folks were running. Sun Su thought it looked like fun so he started running too ...

Sun Su has two speeds - stop and run-with-wild-abandon.

... Until Amy caught up to him.

There was also a volleyball tournament, which Amy's brother shanghai'd me into at the last minute. We did pretty well considering :

1) we never practiced.
2) most of us only got 3-4 hours of sleep (Corea-zy night), and
3) I haven't played since high school.

We got 2nd place, a trophy, and a picture in the local Corean paper. And permanent grass stains on my jeans and a friction burn on my ribs.

I honestly can't believe we got as far as we did.

On the other hand, I was sore for three days.

The Underdogs! I'm in the grey shirt. Kevin is in green on the right.
