What?? :  Is tomorrow really April Fool's Day AND Daylight Savings Time?

GONE FISHIN'

... in South Korea.

Well, these past two weeks have been pretty hectic.  Maybe this whole month has been that way, as evidenced by my lack of updates.  Between the final house down payments, and walkthroughs, and school loan payments, and taxes (we OWE $5900??), and trip expenses, and passport complications, things have been crazy.

I've had no time to draw unfortunately ;-(.

And I feel so out of shape.  Sluggish.

I had a whole bunch of pics I wanted to get rid of, as you can tell.

I still kid Amy that we have until our final house closing date to decide if we'll stay there or not.  She doesn't think that's very funny.  Of course, I'm only half-joking when I say it as well.  I'm not really going to stay there.  But it's nice to give oneself the illusion of being free sometimes, at least.

It's past midnight now, and in less than 12 hours (or 11 with daylight savings), I'll be driving to the airport with Amy on our way to Seoul, South Korea.

The past 24 hours have been a little scary in that Amy learned that her passport expires in four days, but after much calling to Korean officials and relatives and sad (and untruthful) my-grandmother-is-dying stories, we think this will be taken care of in Korea in the next 5-7 days.

Amy taking care of business.

Otherwise I'll be coming home solo in 2 weeks.  (Which is ironic, since I'm the one who wants to stay there.)

Things have been rough with Amy and me as well this month.  Lots of fighting and irritating each other.  I don't really think it's as related to the trip as I would like to believe either.

Anyways, we'll be in Korea for 2 weeks so if any would-be ne'er-do-wells want to break in our apartment, feel free.  You'll have to contend with ... The LIGER! though.  Plus, my mom.  I pity the fool.  I really do.

I bought a laptop for the trip though, so I might be saying hi to my notify list and friends, as well as playing some games on the plane.

At this moment I'm not really as excited as I should be about the trip.  I'm just feeling burned out and tired.  I know that will change, one way or another.

And no, we're not going to the third-world militarized regime known as North Korea.  We're going to the hi-tech glamour-conscious Seoul of South Korea.  Momma didn't raise no fool.

Lastly, I've got my Korean name now.  I've wanted one for a long time, but everytime I've asked any Korean person (online or in real life, including Amy) for a good name, I've either been ignored or looked at with great concern.

Jeong Kang.  That's me.  Not legally.  Maybe just internally.  The Jeong comes from Amy's family first-name -- Amy's name is Jeong Mi, her brother is Jeong Han, etc.

I've always liked the name Kang as well.  I had a futile crush on a Smurfy* girl named Kang in college ... she wore cat's eyes glasses and hip plaid short skirts and taught me how to play this Korean tile game.

Kang is also the name of the only Smurfy* guy in Mortal Kombat 1 :  Liu Kang.  (Kung Lao didn't show up until MK 2.)

So my reasons for the name are silly, but heartfelt.

That's me.

Take care you all.

I'll tell you how it went, next month.

* Smurfy = Asian, in case you forgot.

No, this is NOT my passport photo.

Oh shit, my computer clock just jumped to 3:00 A.M. !!
G' night.

Hi Glenda!  My mom still buys clothes for me too (but not at Old Navy, I hope :-).
