Ethel Noh: Ethel Noh, The Drunken Mistress. She really likes kung fu movies, especially Jackie Chan's Drunken Master 2 (my favorite too, coincidentally). Like all masters of the Drunken Boxing Style, her fighting skills and pain tolerance are enhanced by alcohol ("ethanol" ... hence Ethel Noh). The stance deceptively and comically resembles that of an off-balance drunk.

Unfortunately, her power is also her downfall. Alcoholics (and Drunken Masters) are prone to liver damage, and Sir Roses ("cirrhosis") is never far behind her.

The masks on Ethel Noh's costume are inspired by Japanese Noh masks, except these are actual Korean dance masks. The blood coming from Sir Roses' mouth and the Medusa snakes (seen as veins in real cirrhotics) on his abdomen are often signs of end-stage liver failure.

My doomed tragic hero. Only the good die young.

Ethel Noh and Sir Roses.

Oh ... and she really doesn't like her first name. She prefers going by the name "Jackie."

Drawn with India ink, calligraphy pens, and a brush for some of the watercolor effects.
